NPO Assist: Look At How The R10-Million Initiative Will Benefit Your Community

Have you registered your public benefit organisation on NPO Assist yet? If not, look at all you get just for registering  your organisation for the NPO volunteer assistance…

On 17 March 2016 Andrew Molobetsi of Tax Pro Shop SA attended the pilot NPO Assist event held at the Hammanskraal Community Centre. The event was arranged by the Department of Social Development (DSD) in partnership with the South African Institute of Tax Professionals (SAIT), the South African Institute of Business Accountant (SAIBA), and First National Bank.

The purpose of the meeting was to allow registered volunteers for NPO Assist to meet and assist Office Bearers of the Non Profit Organisations (NPOs), for example, churches, community benefit organisations, not-for-profit farming community groups, etc) that are currently struggling with DSD and SARS regulatory issues to help them become compliant at no charge to the NPO’s whatsoever.

What’s more, the DSD has agreed to assist more than 80 000 non-compliant NPOs solve their DSD and SARS compliance issues by pledging R10-million to the cause.

According to the SAIBA email sent to volunteers on 10/03/2016:

“SAIT and SAIBA started NPO Assist as a national building initiative due to the huge need of NPOs to meet their compliance requirements. More than 80 000 NPOs are not compliant”.

“Due to the success of NPO Assist, the Department of Social Development has reached out to SAIT and SAIBA and requested for our members to intervene and help get community based NPOs compliant”.

“NPO Assist, together with the Department of Social Development, has now arranged a contact session in Gauteng between NPO Assist volunteers and NPOs. The contact session will take place on the 17th of March 2016 at the Hammanskraal Community Centre (Pretoria), starting at 08h00”.
